My conditional tags are not being respected in Genesis

    Hi

I have created some widget areas and hooked them into some pages using conditional tag and using Genesis hooks. It works on all pages (the conditional tags are respected) except on buddypress pages. My custom widget areas should not be showing up on these buddypress pages but they do.

It worked before updating. So something has changed between 2.1.1 and current version.

    Anyone had this issue?

    Thanks

This is likely an issue with necessary changes BP had to make setting is_page() to zero for BP pages, sadly causing a WP bug to manifest, WP has been patched to handle this issue.

You can apply this patch to WP core in advance of it being released to correct the problem – if that is this is the issue.

You rock Hugo. This was a bit over my paygrade but I understood most of it and implemented the patch. That fixed it.

Really appreciate it. Especially the exceptional quick reply.

Glad it’s sorted, it’s an unfortunate issue, one that BP had to implement but we were aware of the issues that arose so are looking out for problems that sound as though this is the root cause.

I’ll close this thread as resolved.

@b2marketing – Does upgrading to WP 4.1.1 fix this issue?

No. I have 4.1.1 installed. I had to alter the file mentioned in the link above.

hmm expected that patch to be included in next WP release but hadn’t actually looked at what release the patch was added to, assumed if committed it would be next even if a point / minor version.

@b2marketing – Looks like the fix was added to the forthcoming version of WP 4.2, which is a few months away from release.

Sorry! I thought the fix was added to WP 4.1.1 as well.
