I’m interested in creating a niche community for collectors that is a bit more like MySpace or LiveJournal than Facebook. I’m mainly interested in emphasizing blogging and photo galleries with the social network component secondary to that.

One of the things I’d like users to be able to do is customize their profile by uploading their own background to their profile to reflect their unique tastes. Is there a plugin for this, or is it even possible? What about providing a selection of backgrounds they could choose from?

I’m open to ideas here… I’m still in the “tossing ideas around” stage before I pull the trigger and try to get some beta testers. I’d like to have something along the lines of customizable profiles to give them an instant way to feel like it’s a place they can call home.
