I have investigated this and cannot find an easy way of adding a link to the Forums onto the main WordPress Nav menu, other than adding a new custom menu item, with an absolute URL to the forums (or relative to the base path).

It would be nice if BuddyPress included the facility to automatically append a link to the forums to the standard WordPress nav menu
