Need an alternative to Theme My Login

    I’ve been using Theme My Login to avoid my users having to register an account with WordPress to use my site…now they have updated to a new version and from what I am understanding this update is causing big problems and causing site crashes and such. It’s also costing money. I haven’t updated yet, but I want to get away from this plugin before something bad happens.

    What can I do to make my site to where users are not directed to a WordPress login page when they sign in? This was a major issue when I first started my site.

    By the way, I need a very dumbed down answer as I’m very technologically illiterate. Thank you so much to anyone who can help!

    Have you tried Login with Ajax?

    @paulpdb thank you again for the suggestion. I did install the Ajax login. Now it seems the login does not recognize registered users. Does this mean that all of my users will have to re-register or do you know if there is a way to get them in the Ajax system so as not to put them in any inconvenience?
    Sorry to bother you…but just wondering how familiar you are with this plugin.

    hang on: I use TML. Is 7.0 causing seemingly random 500 errors for other folks? I’ve been having a few….

    @throuk6 I don’t have the registered user problem you describe and the plugin works well for me. I’m not that familiar with it and have only used it on one site.
    I use the login with Ajax widget with a redirect both on login and logout.
    Perhaps try editing and then re saving your users. I’m not sure.

    @veelow from what I’m reading on the reviews, the update to 7 is really Messing up sites bad and then you have to pay big money to fix it. I never updated so I’m okay so far, but trying to get out while I can. Maybe you should try this Ajax login too

    I’m using the WP-Recall https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-recall/ plugin. ajax login and registration form is there.
