Need Help Choosing Plugins for Website Concept

I’m hoping someone can advise me. I have an idea for a niche community site, but I’m not sure how to put the pieces together or even if there are plugins that exist that will allow me to build the site I want.

I want a social network, of course. However, the purpose is that each member collects urls of online fiction and tags it kind of like GoodReads meets Delicious. The members can track the author, whether they’ve read it, if it’s a favorite, tags, rating (G, PG, R, etc.), summary, and review. Other members can comment or like the review if it’s made public. They can sort the fiction into their own lists, or into shared lists. Members can choose to add urls from each others lists to their to-read lists, etc.

I think this needs some sort of social bookmarking type of plugin at the core and after that I’m not sure. I hope someone can help me.

    J.

I agree it sounds as though you’ll need a bookmarking plugin as the “core”. There are most probably lots to choose from in the WordPress Plugin Directory. My advice is set up a WordPress site locally for testing, install BuddyPress and try out some of the bookmarking plugins to see which suits your idea best.
