New User Email not Taking Settings from General – Mail From and New User Email Set Up Plug-Ins Don’t

I’ve created a BuddyPress site and whenever someone registers their activitation email comes from a generic server email that I’ve never used. I’ve contacted BlueHost and they said this is a WordPress/BuddyPress issue. I’ve created the email specified in the General Settings, I’ve installed both plug-ins that are supposed to fix this, and nothing works. Help? I’m not a programmer and coding isn’t an option for me.
