New user welcome email

    Hi there,
    I’m running Buddypress 2.9.2 and can’t figure out why i’m not receiving email from it. I’ve checked spam and trash and there’s definitely no email coming at all. In the admin UI when i send activation email manually, it says it’s sent but nothing comes through.

    I’m running the site on my own virtual machine. There was a time when it did work way back at the beginning of development. I’m using the Sendgrid plugin to handle all email – which is working great with the other plugins. Ideally i’d like Buddypress emails to go through Sendgrid. I’ve tried the following already:-

    1) deactivating Sendgrid
    2) running a default theme (Storefront)
    3) installing WP Mail SMTP – test emails send fine. Nothing from Buddypress.
    4) looking for logs everywhere to try and see what’s happening
    5) deactivating all plugins except buddypress – still no email.

    At this point, i’m stumped. Any suggestions on what to do next?

    I have the same problem. Every plugins except Buddypress successfully send mails. ( woocommerce, WPForms… ) I tried disabling all plugins, default theme, tried default wp mail, tried smtp trough WP Mail SMTP, Postman…

    Anyways. I’ll follow this thread too.

    Same here. Have tried everything.

    Seems Buddypress have have a bug somewhere …

    I hope somebody can check it soon, since there is no way to have new registrations.

    When I go into Users -> Manage Signups and resend email to users under the tab Pending, it is sent and delivered, so it seems like WP core is sending it out as normal.

    Sorry to say, once again, Everything is pointing to Buddypress.

    Worked for me:

    Tools –> BuddyPress –> Reinstall emails (delete and restore from defaults).

    Thank you @terabyten for sharing your solution. This also worked for me. Good for others to know when they hit this problem with Buddypress.

    I’ve done a reinstall several times, and no dice. Ninja Forms contact form works fine. Test emails from WP Mail SMTP also work fine.

    Also, unlike @terabyten, resending emails from the list of pending users doesn’t work for me. I’m getting nothing from Buddypress at all.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated. I’ve been working on this for hours and I’m really at a loss as to what else to do.

    Just to clarify, when I reinstall emails I’m assuming the number of emails sent for pending users should be reset to 1, correct? That’s not happening for the test account I used to send several activation emails to, which makes me thing the reinstall function is not working.
