No create group & blown up cover pic!

Hi, wonder if you can help me with the following queries/problems?
I have installed Buddy press alongside WPadverts to create a classified site with social networking capabilities. I’m not very clued up with coding, or editing files/themes so please speak in laymans terms…thanks!1) The cover photo blows up to a huge size, showing a tiny portion of the photo. Even when uploading on a phone.
2) There is no “create group” button on the groups page.
Please help!
