non admin capability for sitewide message

    @majecdad

    Hello,

    If I wanted to add the ‘capability’ to send a sitewide message to another user, how would I do so?

    Currently, I understand this capability is baked in to the Admin role, where a tickbox (to send sitewide message) shows in the compose message area. But if I wanted to add that specific capability to another user role, what is the name of it? And would I be able to do so though something like Role Editor?

    Thank you in advance for your help.

    BP: 2.2
    site: local dev

    Craptastic. In playing with capabilities over the past couple hours, it seems as though the ability to send a sitewide message is tied to the ‘manage options’ capability.

    I’m obviously not too keen on adding that capability to another user.

    How else can I accomplish the same thing: Allow another (non-admin, but very specific) user the ability to send a sitewide message?

    Thanks.

    hi @majecdad,

    did you find a solution to your problem?

    i’m after a similar one to allow a site Editor to send sitewide notices.

    hey @maxgx, I had also used the plugin @sharmavishal mentioned. The plugin author recently came back to it after a long absence and says he is now going to continue updating. It has some limitations, but not a lot to choose from out there. Good luck.

    cool, thanks guys, i’ll try that out.
    not the sitewide notifications i was after, but if it does what it says, at least Editor will have a chance to bulk message members.
