Not all members listed, pending user permissions

    Hi there,

I’m using Multisite. (I have another issue which no one has commented on that I really need help with.) I have 9 users on the subsite I’ve installed BP on, but only five of them show up in the members area. Two are admins, and seven are contributors. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what the differences could be that only some show up and not others. My subsite is http://microcosmsfic.com.

Also, I do show I have one pending user. However, when I click on it, I get the message “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” This is with my superadmin ID. When I switch to another admin, it does not show a pending user. Also, the pending user is only shown on my subsite and not in my network users.

Can anyone help? I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks and best wishes,
    Kristen

    3. If a directory install, is it in root or in a subdirectory? Subdirectory (I think)

    4. Did you upgrade from a previous version of WordPress? If so, from which version? Previously, but I’ve since deactivated/uninstalled/reinstalled BuddyPress, and I’m having the same issues.

    5. Was WordPress functioning properly before installing/upgrading BuddyPress (BP)? e.g. permalinks, creating a new post, commenting. (yes, but n/a)

    6. Which version of BP are you running? 2.4.3

    7. Did you upgraded from a previous version of BP? If so, from which version? not that I recall

    8. Do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated? If so, which ones? Yes. Notable, on this subsite: Askimet, Header and Footer Scripts, MyCred, Super Socializer, Wangard, WP ULike

    10. Have you modified the core files in any way? No.

    11. Do you have any custom functions in bp-custom.php? No.

    12. If running bbPress, which version? Or did your BuddyPress install come with a copy of bbPress built-in? Built in.

    13. Please provide a list of any errors in your server’s log files. I’m not sure how to find this, sorry.

    14. Which company provides your hosting? Go Daddy (Yes, I know…)

    15. Is your server running Windows, or if Linux; Apache, nginx or something else? Linux

Did you create the users yourself and if so have you logged in with their accounts?

On my test site I recall having to log in with those created users to get them to pop up in the front end members lists.

    Thank you for responding. 🙂

Some yes, some no. Mostly no. Using User Switching, I’ve tried to switch to the accounts that aren’t showing, but they still did not get added to the members area. Thanks for the tip, though.

I now have 14 users on my site, but only 8 are showing up in /members.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

as long as these members haven’t loggedin for the first time, their name is held in xx_signup table and are mentionned as “pending” on members admin page.

As you use subdomain, i suppose you are on a network install, in which case, your members admin can be found at your_site/wp-admin/network/users.php (wp-admin/users.php on a single install).

If not, ensure that BP is installed at the same level as your WordPress. This is mandatory.
BuddyPress does not work on installations where you give WordPress its own directory.

    Anything is explained here:

    Hi danbp,

Thanks for replying! I’m not entirely sure I understand what you are saying.

I only have 1 user listed as pending. Using the Unconfirmed plugin, I can see they have not clicked the activation link. However, my other users apparently have.

I can see all of the 14 users for my subsite (that have clicked the activation link) in my_site/wp-admin/network/users.php. However, only 8 are showing up in /members. (One of the users not showing up is another admin account of mine, which I have definitely logged in with.)

My entire site is WP. I do not have it installed as a blog in a subfolder, etc.

Did I misunderstand what you meant?

I’m by NO means an expert, but I’ve used BP off and on for years, and this is the first time I’ve ever encountered this issue.

    Thanks so much!

Well, I changed my other admin’s password and logged in again, and now that one shows up. I’m scratching my head, here.

Does everyone have to log in again in order to show up in members, even though they’ve activated their e-mail? This doesn’t make sense to me.

And I’ve read through the Getting Started info a few times. I believe I have everything set up correctly. I’m not sure what I could be doing wrong.

I’m speaking for both of my issues, btw. The one referenced here and the other one that I linked to.

All site members (including admins) are registered in the same wp_users table. This means that you’ll see them in your network members admin.
If some of them logged in from a secondary blog, they’re also registered as that blog members.
But in both case, if you compare the number of members in wp_users table, you should see the same number on BP members directory.

If you have 14 members in the table (see phpmyadmin for that) and only 8 are on members directory, it is possible that 6 have never logged in since they registered their account.

How many users are in the signup table ?
Have all members on wp-admin/network/users.php page a last activity date ? Or have some a mention No recent activity ?

    Hi there,

I have the same problem. I have 28 users registered which where all showing up on members page until two days ago.

I did not change a thing and did not update anything but suddenly they stop showing.

Sometimes I can see 3 users on the members page, sometimes 6 or 7 but then again none at all. BUt I can not manage to see al 28…

Tried to delete page and browser cache which wasn´t of any help.

How can I get my users back on the members page?

    Thank you!
