Not receiving new notification emails

Hello,
I have been using buddypress for a while with no issues with emails. However, last week I noticed that users are not receiving notification emails anymore. User registration emails are still successfully sent out but for some reason I cant get new notification emails to work. I have tried disabling all plugins and even using different themes with no luck.
Using buddypress 1.9.1 and WP 3.8.1.
