oEmbed for BuddyPress plugin – out now!
-
I have the activity component (Activity Streams) disabled and get this error.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_get_activity_id() in /home/wazaalli/public_html/edu/wp-content/plugins/bp-oembed/bp-oembed.php on line 63
When I have activity active it works fine. But I don’t want an activity wall.
I took out bp-activity from plugins and bp-activity.php but still the same. All the errors point to activity.
Thanks for that bug report, will fix it up.
Hi, I’ve wordpress mu + buddypress last version and I try to use this plugin. I’ve installed without problem but it seems doesn’t work. I also try to rename the plugin directory.
For example when I insert a url like “http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8OAF2cU6Xc” in the activity stream it remains only link. Like this http://madeintorino.com/members/admin/activity/1138
How can I do?
thanks
This is working for me.
Can you try deactivating the plugin, deleting the plugin folder and then downloading and activating the latest version.
I try to delete it and reinstall last version (0.52). I try also to deactivate all plugins for evitate conflict but nothing.
I try also oEmbed for Comments and it also doesn’t work (http://madeintorino.com/blog/2010/03/aggiornamenti/comment-page-1/#comment-3)
Can you help me?
thanks
Now it works, simply I disable Auto-embeds in Media Options.
Thanks
Great plugin, Thanks
I LOVE this plugin but I have to deactivate it because I cannot limit the size of the embedded YouTube videos without changing my defaults for my entire website.
I embed YouTube videos as my main posts and they are 620px wide (as set by Media Embed Setting in WordPress).. I can’t let people embed 620px wide Youtube videos in the activity stream as that is too big. If I decrease the Media Embed setting in WordPress, it decreases the size of my videos in my Posts.. which is not good.
I noticed some code in your config.php at the bottom that says:
“WORDPRESS SPECIFIC VARS
allows you to hardcode certain WordPress-only variables”
How can I hard-code these variables? Would this be how I could make the embeds smaller for the activity stream vs. the site defaults?
I don’t have a file named config.php in the plugin that has the lines you posted above.
The next release (which I’ve been teasing for awhile now) will allow you to customize the size in the activity stream, and hopefully the activity permalink page.
@r-a-y Hi Matey
We are having an issue with both plugins (activity and comments). When you add text before or after the link to be embedded (e.g. a description or comment) it only displays the embedded item and not the text before or after.
Any ideas?
Cheers!
@bofw – I don’t experience this problem with the default BP theme.

Anyway, some general updates about the plugin. Sorry for the lack of progress! (blame it on me moderating the forums!)
Next version will definitely include:
-activity stream resizing + activity stream permalink resizing
-changes to caching logic for performance reasons
-support for WP Embed handlers (for developers to extend the embed list; more info can be found here – https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_embed_register_handler)
-CSS class around oembedded object (this one’s for the designers)
-support for group descriptions
-fix fatal error if activity, forum or group components are disabledBtw, please post new questions or bug reports in the new plugin group:

“at socialpreneur: This plugin does not support xprofiles. Not sure if I want to add it.”If this is a project you are still working on I think you definitely should add that feature. And if possible something to display photos. Just my suggestions.
I’ve mentioned this before. The only reason I haven’t really thought about adding xprofile support is due to the lack of a way to remove the cached data from the DB if one decides to change an xprofile field. There’s probably an intelligent way to do this, but I haven’t thought of it yet.
Locking thread. The post directly above mentions the new home for discussing the plugin.

Hey gang,
Here’s the oEmbed plugin that I’ve been working on for BP:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/oembed-for-buddypress/
BP Group: http://buddypress.org/community/groups/oembed-for-buddypress
I’ve only tested this on WPMU 2.9.1.1 and BP 1.2. But it should work on single WP as well. Hope it works for you!
Please list any bugs you come across.
*This plugin would not exist without the coding expertise of Viper007Bond, who created the WP_oEmbed class. Props go out to him first and foremost.
