Only Admin Can Upload New Profile Pic / Avatar

Hi I have a problem with uploading images, I’m on the newest WordPress and Buddypress versions, and I can upload images when I’m logged in as Admin.

But when logged into Buddypress as anything other than admin, the image upload for profile/change-avatar doesn’t work. I get an “An error occurred. Please try again later.” message.

If it’s pertinent, I just moved to a new server.

Also, Lazyload plugin was affecting the cropping screen, by leaving the image invisible with just a small square visible – I found that as I was going through and checking the plugins before posting here, by switching them off.

Now the image uploads, with a progress bar, but receives the red error at the end.

    Has anyone seen this before?
    Thank you

Sorry, just to add when I say images, I don’t mean in media library, that’s fine for admin. And other users don’t have access. I mean the change avatar screen specifically.

    profile/change-avatar/

Did you ever figure this out Kir, I’m having the same issue.

I figured my issue out, it was with a plugin “Mojo Under Construction”

When I deactivated it I was able to upload through other roles other than admin.

some quick advice for anyone who finds their way to this thread..

    • bp-custom.php – check to see that you don’t have any avatar related stuff in here
    • functions.php to eliminate a function as a possibility switch to a default theme like 2015 to see if it works
    • **when switching roles of a user remember to log that user out and back in before testing uploads in that role.
    • disable all plugins (if youve had any in the past that altered, ermmm, user roles/persmissions? there could be some leftover stuff even after disabling/uninstalling, or so ive read)
