Permalinks not working in BuddyPress 1.0 install

  • Hi,

I’ve just installed WPMU 2.7.1 – and the permalinks work fine (but only on default).

Activating BuddyPress 1.o, permalinks don’t work, not even on default

I am a total noob to WPMU, so granted I’ve gone wrong somewhere. It’s installed on my Leopard machine, with PHP 5.2.6, MySql 5.0.67 and Apache 2.2.9

htaccess is same as htaccess.dist (minus RewriteBase, which is /~shortname/wpmu – have tried just “/” but no dice either).

Changing a preference in WP-ADMIN doesn’t change anything in htaccess – so I’m assuming that’s the problem – but is there a fix?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Ross

    Am I missing something obvious?

Are you using the .htaccess file that comes with WPMU? If so, have you placed it in the root directory of WPMU?

I had some luck unpluging some plugins.

    Navigate to your Apache>conf>httpd.conf

    Then find the following row:

    #LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

Remove the “#” symbol from the beginning of the line. Save. You may have to restart Apache afterwards but you shouldnt have any problem with the permalink not working.

    Hello

I am new here and just installed WPMU and Buddypress. This is my current issue:

Whenever Permalinks are not set to Default but to any other option, every page-link stop working.

The pages and links do normally work without a problem as long as Permalinks are set to Default.

Then I leave them working Default, what automatically stops Buddypress, since, according to message I get, Permalinks are required to get Buddypress work.

My server is Windows so I have erased the .htaccess file as directed by data provided for WPMU installation under windows server.

Any insight on how to make it work?

    Thanks.
