Please Help! How to display your friends, and your own activity only in output of activity stream

This would be great if there is some solution to this. I know about filtering but it doesn’t do what I am trying to accomplish. Does anyone know how this can be done. Its pretty much like a facebook wall that displays your updates and friends updates simultaneously in the activity stream only. Thanks!
