pointers for : change avatar – nag bar

    Does anyone have pointers or can anyone tell me a short way to create a simple nag-bar (or better yet , dissipating growl-like popup) when users do not create an avatar ?

    My site is filled with cute yellow smileys (default avatar), but I’d rather nudge users to use a picture.

    (know my way around PHP, don’t want an overloaded plugin with extra features that “happens to have” the nag-feature – although if you know of one I may be able to pull the routine out).

    The simple way is to add a usser meta field when an avatar is uploaded. delete the meta when avatar is deleted and check for this usermeta to show the nag to the current user.
