Possible BP use

    Hi
I have a question for you all about a possible use for Buddy Press. My wife sells home accessories and she sells through her own website and also on a site that allows “artisans” to sell through their site in a sort of micro shop. She can upload upto 20 items and the company will take the money for any sales she makes through them and pay out at the end of the month, minus a commission. I built her site using WP and WP E Commerce and I was wondering if Buddy Press could be used to set up a similar site with other people selling through our site and us taking the money and commission. I would need the shop to work across each of the sellers shop and each shop be accessed by the maker to upload their products when they want to.
I hope this makes sense, it is sort of difficult to explain what I want it to do at the moment, just wanted to see if anyone has used BP this was or has seen one working like this before I invest loads of time in trying it out.

    Many thanks

    Mark Venn

Yep. that’s what I’ve built, basically, except the fee for vendors is a flat monthly one, rather than a per-item percentage. I’m actually not sure if there’s a way to do that across a multisite installation. What I’ve built has required about 70 different plugins and many customized template files to turn the vendors’ individual WP sites into ecommerce sites, rather than blogs, and to give them all of the functionality that is included with their shops sites. It’s been a huge job that has really stretched my problem solving and “out-of-the-box” thinking skills, lol!

And I’ve changed the name of my site: http://www.riotcart.com :)
