Posting a topic so that several groups, but not all, see it?

When creating a new topic, one has to choose a single group forum from the “Post in Group Forum” dropdown menu.

Has anyone seen a way to share the topic amongst multiple groups?

    Here’s a use-case:

Let’s say our university’s BuddyPress site has four groups: faculty, staff, researchers, and students. The faculty, staff, and researchers want to discuss where to hold their Christmas party. Students aren’t invited. How can the three groups discuss it privately?

A workaround would the the BP Group Hierarchy plugin, which allows for subgroups within groups. But that’s awfully clunky since you’d have to make every possible combination of a groups its own subgroup. Group Everyone, with subgroup faculty + staff + researchers; subgroup faculty + staff + students; subgroup faculty + students; etc. etc.

Create one group that is hidden (maybe call it “Private Meetings”), this group will not show up on the site. Then invite those you want to have private discussions with. You can add and remove members for different discussions.
