private buddy press

    i’m new to buddypress. i want to create a private one where only members can view and add info. this is for a closed group that only has about 30 members.

    i had been using simple membership to control what pages were viewable. do i need this still? or is nothing viewable in buddy press until they login?

    does the buddy press member accounts use the info from the wp user accounts? or do i have to go in and add all the wp users and set them up as buddy press members?

    WP users are BP users, except for the profile fields you add in wp-admin > Users > Profile Fields

    For granular control of both WP and BP content re logged-in vs. not-logged-in, have you tried BP Simple Private ?

    You can get it here: WP Repo – BP Simple Private

    Or here: PhiloPress – BP Simple Private

    no i hadn’t. so with it, members only logon once and then have full access to the buddy press and bb forums?

    It only affects non-logged-in-users.

    If you want support for bbPress, then you need:
    BP Simple Private Pro

    i installed it but seem to be having issues with the buddy press page members. the website folder that wordpress is installed in is members also. can i change the file name of the member’s page? i see where in settings to associate a page for member. but didn’t know if it caused other issues

    BP Registration Options Works pretty well for me includes option to approve every registration prior to user accessing full BP features.
