Problem with custom date selector

Hello!
I am trying to implement a custom date selector xProfile Field that displays time ranges like e.g. 10:00-12:00. As can be seen in the image below, when I actually edit the Field, it seems that this functionality should be possible by specifying the format as “H:i-H:i” under “Custom”
, but both on the backend and the frontend, it ends up as a Field where the user just picks Day, Month and Year from drop-down menus:
How do I make sure that (at least) on the frontend, I actually get my Custom “H:i-H:i” applied?
