Profile and View buttons

When I look at an individual member’s profile page, I see two buttons near the top: Profile and View.
When I mouse over either button, they both point to the same URL, namely the same URL I am already on followed by /profile. When I click on either button, it simply redirects me back to the same page I am already on.
So what is the point of these buttons? Do they have any function? Is there perhaps something wrong in my configuration that I am seeing them this way. Is there a simple way to get rid of them if they really have no useful function?
I am running WP 5.3 with BP 5.0.0. I will be upgrading to 5.1.0 in the next day or two.
