Public Group Appears on Site, but User Gets Message: “This is a hidden group and only invited member

    I have marked a group as a public group (so that everyone can join), but when new user goes to the group page, this message appears under the group description: “This is a hidden group and only invited members can join.” How do I set it so that anyone can join a group?

    Mmhm…… if you create another public group, is it public or hidden?

    What versions of wp and bp are you using?

    I am using WP 3.1 and BuddyPress 1.2.8

    I created another Public group — this one, like the other one, does show up to the public. And it’s the same thing — it’s marked as a Public Group on the Groups page, but under the links HOME and MEMBERS, it says: “This is a hidden group and only invited members can join.”

    Ok, now I am under suspicion of an conflicting plugin.

    Deactivate ALL your plugins and see if it’s a plugin.
