BuddyPress.org

We want to use WordPress as the ‘blog’ section of a learning site build around community learning .. with BuddyPress providing the community tools. However we would like most of the non-blog, non-WP part of the site, which deals with the ‘courses’ and learning structure, to feature the BuddyPress functions to keep the community features going throughout the site. I’m new to BP but can anyone point me to ways to integrate BP features into that part of a PHP/MySql site NOT driven by WordPress but where WP and BP is present as a sub-dir of the site… thanks..
