I’m glad you like the idea. I’m not sure if the upcoming template redesigns for 1.7 will accomodate this type of thing (not sure what they’ll look like at all, actually). Do create another trac enhancement ticket please; it needs discussion before going in, and I’m a little biased

Probably will get closed because BP 1.7 will have group management screens inside the WordPress admin area, so don’t need it on the front-end.
