I’d love that feature too!
That would be a great one!
Could put a major strain on your server if you have to auto update it for all members their actvity.
(Basing on that it’s a big social network.)
If something like this gets created, only allow it for friends activities and friends of friends.
On this subject, how about building RSSCloud and PubSubHubub into the Activity Stream RSS feed? There are plugins for WordPress, written by Automattic. I guess they could be modified to work for BuddyPress feeds?

Very cool, potentially, but I would also caution that this could really overwhelm server load if it’s not implemented carefully.
If you don’t believe me, check out the discussions on the (auto-updating) P2 Theme over at wordpress.org.
Instead of auto update what about a refresh in ajax button. That what you are only refreshing the stream and not all the page content.
This would be a great feature.
This is now officially a “Potential Future BuddyPress Feature” for BP 1.4+ (ie, after BP 1.3, which looks to be essentially the WP 3.0 compatibility release). Here is the short list:
A quick blog post form via the theme. (try plugin: BuddyPress QuickPress)
Privacy controls (try plugin: bp-authz)
Global content tagging
Inappropriate content flagging
Bulk accept/reject friendship requests
Grouping of similar activity stream items
Ability to block all communication from a user
Option to receive forum post notifications via email
Message file attachments
Structured profile fields (templates for address / phone number)
Profile field specific searching (try plugin: BP Member Filter)
AJAX live updating of site wide activity stream
Very cool indeed! Is there a release date announce for that version?
