    Hi

I am sure i am missing something, but no matter how much I have searched I cant find any help on this, I have an xprofile field in the base group called Job position , when a user changes this I would like to display on the activity feed something like “congratulate user on job change” , can someone point me to the right direction. The only info I could find is how to register a new action for custom post types.

    Any help would be appreciated

ok from all the reading I have done , this in buddypress is impossible to do …… any other suggestions , all i need is a field in the profile fields that when is updated will show in the activity stream ?

    Hi,

as you noticed, BP can’t do this. BuddyPress is member oriented, not “field” oriented.

In the activity stream you will see a member’s activity (Exentric updated his profile), but you can’t expect to see that field ID 5896 on Exentric’s profile was modified.

Note that with php, nothing is theoretical impossible, so feel free to code something who fit your need. But you’ll be alone to start this adventure.

Thanks for replying @danbp , what about changing the function of new_avatar ? would I be able to assign somewhere that new_avatar = xprofileid ? I dont need for users to be notified when someone changes his profile picture. I’m racking my brain to come up with something

Sorry, but as i said, you’re alone. If you’re stuck with coding, try to hire a dev.

For anyone else looking for this ….. and I know there are a lot of you because I found hundreds of similar posts , here it is link I think that this functionality is very very important to buddypress , and hopefully it will be added and extended (i will be posting what I add to this functionality here) , @danbp there is no way I could believe that no one else needed this function
