Anyone willing to tell me how I could rename one of the bp- template folders to something else? and before you ask why I would just prefer it to be called something else.

You could rename it -but then you would have to change every call to a path that includes that folder name. And redo your hacks every time the plugin is updated.

I forgot to ask but are the calls only located in the template folder I want to change? for example the bp-legacy folder?

You need to replace every call in the whole BP plugin.
