Replace “Group admin” with “Administration”

    The title is just an example. How do I edit what displays like this? Obviously I’d like to do it with a separate, modifying file — not edit the original buddypress file — to keep everything with the actual buddypress plugin run smoothly.

    recommended method for this is to use the language file.

    Can I also use this file to replace “language” as you seem to be calling it with images? For example, replace “Activity” with an activity icon?

    No. But ou can replace the word in the language file by an empty space html entity (& n b s p ; ) and simply add an image, or better, a dashicon, via css.
