[Resolved] 500 error after activating

  • Latest WordPress, BP, Php5, LINUX server this time. Mod rewrite is on and confirmed. No other plugins active, default wp theme, etc.

    “Server error
The website encountered an error while retrieving /wp-admin/plugins.php?activate=true&plugin_status=all&paged=1&s=. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.”

The first 3-4 times I tried installing it I could get it activated but would do this ^ after choosing the settings etc.

Are you still at ixwebhosting? I just set up a new BP install there. Edit – Deactivate plugins via FTP by renaming plugin folder and change automatically to Twenty Eleven by renaming the folder of the theme you were using when you activated BuddyPress.

yep still at ix but a proper linux server this time :), giving it a shot right now

still got the error but instead of the /wp-admin/plugins blah blah blah being shown in the 500 error its the index itself The website encountered an error while retrieving http://huntinginsider.com/wp-admin/index.php. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

@jetgirlart looks like you’ve resolved your server error issue. The wp-admin/index.php correctly redirects to wp-login.php when I checked.

May I ask how did you resolve the issue? I’m on the same hosting with same problem

Ah yeah, I got rid of buddypress from my ftp. Deadline is too close for me to keep trying to mess with it.

If you want your BP working on current host simply chat with technician and he will make it work in no-time. Great support.

@jetgirlart I agree with @tedzz , their live chat techs know what they’re talking about. Client had been with them for a long time and wanted to add BuddyPress. Chatted with tech about client’s path to VPS from shared hosting if/when needed. I installed BP and went through installation Wizard plus using BP Template Pack, no issues on Linux.

In the process of backing up everything, I’ll give it one more try. :)

alright the host guys tried helping then we got this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function xprofile_get_field_data() in /hsphere/local/home/c360397/huntinginsider.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-members/bp-members-functions.php on line 410

    huntinginsider.com

increased memory settings, now get Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_get_activity_slug() in /hsphere/local/home/c360397/huntinginsider.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-members/bp-members-loader.php on line 114

I’m going to try and deactivate it manually then turn on the buddypress template before activating buddypress. maybe it will play nice then.

    IT WORKS! :D
