[Resolved] BP Multi Network Activity Stream shows count of all Multi Network users

    @sbrajesh created BP Multi Network

    I am also running WP Multi-Network. On separate installations in the Activity Stream there is a tab for ‘All Members’, this tab shows a count of members that are on the entire network, not just the site that the user is on. I find this to be true across all of the Multi Network sites.

    Is there way to get this tab to just show the users on their site?

    == sbrajesh BP Multi Network … I am also running WP Multi-Network ==

    I don’t believe those two are compatible. If you want to run WP MultiNetwork, then you should use the BuddyPress MultiNetwork plugin by wpmuguru and johnjamesjacoby – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-multi-network/

    @mercime,

    In my initial testing I was having trouble getting BP Multi Network, the name of the plugin you are referring to, to work. I will start from scratch again and run some more tests though..

    The installations instructions are not very clear for BP Multi Network, for instance,
    deactivate BuddyPress on your sub network(s).
    Edit your database and remove the bp- settings for the subnetwork from wp_sitemeta and wp_X_options where X is the blog ID of the main site in your sub network.

    Edit your database? Not sure I would know what to do there…

    @elangley Please be aware that when you go WP Multi-Network and then go BP MultiNetwork, you would be expected to know or to learn how to make some changes in database. At this point, you might need to hire a developer. But if you’re game to proceed on your own, please remember to backup your database and server files before going through these processes which require more technical expertise than basic installations. That way, you could revert to previous installation if something goes awry.

    @mercime Sorry I did not notice that in the documentation. I am in the process of having some custom development work done on the site so paying for professional help is not a problem.

    BP Multi Network is a very specialized, somewhat complex plugin that is probably only supportable by the developers. I wonder if @wpmuguru or @johnjamesjacoby would be willing to provide support?

    @elangley sorry, I understated what was expected. For example, WordPress.com is a custom Multisite installation with around 35Million+ user blogs spread over several DB’s and supported by multiple paid topnotch frontend and backend developers, server admins, etc. Even if you would only have e.g. 100 Networks with WP Multi-Network and you’ve allowed user blogs in each Network and then go BP MultiNetwork, that would require a serious developer skills where making some changes in DB is just child’s play since by that time you’d have to use SharDB, HyperDB, or MultiDB to maintain, sustain and grow the Networks over several servers and DB’s.

    @mercime,

    Thank you for your reponses. My site is strictly in testing mode right now. The primary funcationality that I am trying to get working, without success to this point, is completely separate activity streams, members and groups in a Multi Network configuration. To me it doesn’t seem like it should be that much of a hassle but it is.

    Sure, I could just fire up multiple AWS servers to accomplish the same thing but then I have to manage all those separate code bases, which is a drag.

    If you know of somone that can help me accomplish this with BuddyPress I’d like to work with them.

    Last night, on a fresh install of WP Multi Site, I added Networks+, then BP Multi Network, then BuddyPress.

    In the Members page of a test site I can still see users that are not members of that site. It must be me. I am just not sure what I am doing wrong.

    @elangley Since you’ve already purchased Networks+, at this point I suggest that you take advantage of the advanced and excellent support included with the purchase provided by the plugin developer at http://wpebooks.com/support/networks/

    @mercime ,

    Thanks I check with Ron, his version of BP Multi Network does not filter Members or Widgets users.

    The other BP Multi Network (almost exactly the same name, by Brajesh Singh) does, BUT only on Multisite NOT any of the Multi Network plugins.

    Note: The user count on the primary site shows all of the site members, only the subsites are filtered by BP Multi Nework.
