[RESOLVED] How to reinstall BuddyPress from the beginning?

  • Complete BP noob here. I didn’t have a compatible theme installed when I activated BP 1.6.1 the first time. I think this is what caused it to not create any pages. I’ve completely deleted BP following the instructions in the Codex, but when I re-install I never get back to the activation wizard – all I see is the “BP does not have these pages” nag.

    How do I get it to auto-create all the pages it needs? Or if not auto-create, how do I create pages for things like Activity, Members, etc? Is there content that needs to be on them? I added the BP Template Pack (or whatever it’s called) plugin, but it only gave me 1 template – activities, i think.

    Thanx in advance for the help.

    Hi gamelord, just trying to grasp what is going on here so forgive me if going over stuff you’ve done already.

    You can reset pages under BuddyPress under Settings > BuddyPress. Is that available to you?

    yes, it is. however, i was expecting pages to be created for things instead of having to invent them myself. the current message i’m getting is:

    The following active BuddyPress Components do not have associated WordPress Pages: Members, Activate, Register.

    All that the Settings | BuddyPress gives me is the ability to create new blank pages for each… but I have no idea what content should be going in them if I do create them.

    I managed to fix it. I scrubbed the options database one more time, and found an item that wasn’t listed in the codex. Seems that must have been what it was looking at. BP started fresh, and created it’s pages.

    @gamelord

    Just for the record and as it’s important to understand how things work, you didn’t really need to go through all the DB editing which is best avoided. BP needs these pages for url path purposes only, they do not need to be automagically created all that you need do is create these pages with any name and then select them from the BP page settings and these pages are empty! pages they do not and should not have any content or other options set simply a title.
