[resolved] Renaming ”Group” and ”Groups” to ”Project” and ”Projects”

Hi friends,

How would I rename “Group” and “Groups” to “Project” and “Projects” in buddypress? Is there just a language file I change somewhere? Had tried a few hacks but nothing has worked.

I’m running wp 3.31 and bp 1.5.4

Are you using the default WP theme or a custom theme?

I had the same issue (https://buddypress.org/community/groups/requests-feedback/forum/topic/feature-requset-global-rename-abilty-for-the-word-group/) and I was given a number of solutions. A few replies down, Paul Gibbs showed how to change/make a new language file. That should work.

My problem was that I was using a custom theme and the theme files had to be edited. Hopefully you’ll find what you need at the link I posted. Good luck!

@mercime that link you posted worked flawlessly…. super clear and simple. I must say poedit had a number of errors that required a few hours to fix, but ultimately those steps got the exact result I was hoping for!

If anyone else tries this and has issues w/ poedit, let me know and perhaps I can help.
