Responding to Wires

I would really like to see it become a bit easier to respond to messages left on the wire.

For instance – I read a message user A left on my wire. It would be very helpful to have a “respond” link that would take me straight to user A’s wire so I can leave a note in response. It’s been a while since I was on Facebook (completely overwhelmed, too much going on there) but I think they call this “wall to wall.

    Thoughts? Feedback?

That would be cool. Pretty easy too I’m thinking. No I’m not volunteering.

You can kinda do it now if you think of it. The wire poster’s name is their profile link and at the bottom of where it takes you is the wire box for that person. I never would have thought of doing that until you mentioned this. I’d make it more explicit though.

Something like the ‘delete’ button that becomes visible if it’s your wire.

I’m high on usability ideas, low on coding skills. Anyone way smarter than me willing to take this on?

gpo1 – you posted that already here: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=319#post-1291

Let’s try to keep threads on topic or things will become unwieldy very quickly.

To close the loop – I submitted a feature request at https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/341

I have no idea if this will be picked up so if there’s anyone willing and able to develop this in a plugin, it would serve BP well.

Thanks for the request: a wire-to-wire option will be coming post Wire 1.0.
