Restoring blog metadata and other settings after installing BuddyPress

I installed BuddyPress, which was not working right with my blog’s former theme. So I’m currently using the default BuddyPress theme, which I like a lot. But I noticed that the default theme took away a lot of the blog’s metadata (minute details that make a site look professional). Examples of important metadata that I lost include:

    1) meta description of the blog’s mission. When I Google my blog, the search result shows a generic description provided by the default theme rather than my custom description.
    2) The meta title of each blog page. Currently, all blog pages that I created show “Home” as their meta title.
    3) When I go click on my blog posts, the word “BLOG” comes up in the post’s meta title. I would like to delete this.

Can someone generally teach me how to resolve these problems. I can’t ask for specific instructions on every little problem I have with the default theme overriding my blog’s metadata and theme appearance (there are too many problems to list). Is there a way I can fix these issues myself using some kind of program? I know no CSS or PHP.

    Thanks.
    Daniel

You can definitely adjust the first one of those without being a CSS or PHP wizard, just by editing header.php. I suggest you create a Child Theme first.

There are also some good SEO plugins out there, although I don’t know what works with BuddyPress. Hopefully somebody else’ll chime in here.
