Restration Page Re-directs to Homepage

Hello my BuddyPress and bbPress gurus! Hope everyone is having a great week. The support you guys do is awesome…don’t know what I’d do without you. And, hat’s off to the folks that did the great Documentation too…it is one of the best I’ve seen.

I am in the process of setting up our new forums and groups and so far, things are going fairly well. I know that there are some problems with my theme…at least I think that’s what the problem is. I am using Dejavu by Mysitemyway.com with a Dejavu’s bbPress child theme for Buddy Press and bbPress.

Here’s the problem…after installing Buddy Press and bbPress and activating them. Of course, the pages created by Buddy Press are available. However, for some reason, when you try to to to the “registration” page that was created by BuddyPress, it somehow re-directs you to the “home” page of the site and not to the actual registration page. I DID use a “log-in” widget in the widget area of the home page..for now…but I don’t understand why the registration page gets redirected. Other than that, once a member is logged in, everything seems to work fine.

You can view the site at http://www.accessories.ldjautobody.com. I am trying to keep the search engines out for now, until we get it ready for the public. We are still working on the homepage and our marketplace which are not finished yet.

In summary, if someone could tell me why my “registration” page re-directs to the site’s homepage, I would appreciate it. I have checked the permalinks and they appear to be correct. I am assuming that somewhere either in BuddyPress or bbPress setup something points to the homepage OR there is a problem with my original theme…

Thanks in advance for your help.

If the user is already logged in it is default behavior for them to be redirected to the home page which makes sense, since someone who has the ability to login had already been through the registration and activation process. Hope this answers your question. 🙂

What @bphelp said and also try going to WP Admin > BuddyPress > Pages and then under Registration make sure your “Register” page isn’t set to your homepage.

    Thanks @henrywright-1,

That makes sense too. Actually, it was not set to the homepage, but I WAS logged in already and that’s why it would not take me to registration. I tried logging out and going back to it and if you click on the Registration tab, it does take you to the registration page.

Thanks Henry and everyone for all your help! 🙂
