Restrict video posting to JUST YouTube / Vimeo shares

    @jeffreyls

    I have a music BuddyPress site where I allow a user to share/post videos. I would like to restrict the video to share from YoTube/Vimeo.

    The reason being… I only have a HostGator VPS account and don’t want to blow the storage out the water.

    So wanting to inform the users that they must first upload video to YouTube/Vimeo… then they can share the video on my BuddyPress site.

    So, in case they don’t follow instructions or don’t take the time to read it… I am wanting an option that prevents them from uploading video directly on BuddyPress site.

    Any help would be most appreciated.

    Jeff

    BuddyPress just uses the oEmbed providers that WordPress uses:
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds#oEmbed

    So to only use WordPress and Vimeo, disable all the other oEmbed providers by WordPress. Not sure if there is a plugin to do that natively, but there is a brief description under the “Removing Support for An oEmbed-Enabled Site” section on the codex page I linked to above.

    Hi Ray,

    Big thanks, looks like the way to go. I did find
    https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/disable-embeds

    It looks to disable everything… just need to find a way to disable everything with an exception. i.e. YouTube and Vimeo.

    Thanks again… appreciated.

    Jeff
