Authorise New Registrants or Allow Access Key

Hi.
I am using WP 3.8.1 and BuddyPress 1.9.2 and would like to customise the registration process.
The default functionality to add fields is perfect for most of my needs, however, there is one sticking point – controlling user authorisation upon registration. There are two parts I require:-
Administrator must activate all new registrations, unless…
If the user enters a matching code which is set by the admin in the WP dashboard, their account is automatically authorised.
In an ideal World, I could do all of this with the combination of BP registration and Register Plus Redux plugin, which are unfortunately not compatible with each other unless someone knows any better?
Are there any existing plugins or hacks to achieve this kind of setup?
