Saving Theme from upgrading

    Hey,

I don’t know if I put this in the right section of the forum.

Anyway, due to design adjustments to my theme, I often had to edit images from the core folder of buddypress. After upgrading to a new version, they will be overwritten. So the only way to solve this would be to upload the images again which is a bit annoying.

It seems that buddypress would load images from 3 different locations and although I’m looking forward to the next version, I’m not too happy about repairing my theme after upgrading…

Is this going to be solved somehow? Why wouldn’t bp only choose images from bphome/bpmember? That would make life much easier. :D

  • This sort of thing should be overridable by the theme, especially in 1.1. Do you have an example of an image that you have this problem with?

These were also uploaded in bphome/bpmember before, but were not generated. Therefore, I had to overwrite the following images in /buddypress/bp-core/images:

    view_button_side

    remove_friend_button

    add_friend_button

    admin_bar_logo

There was another file called something like info_icon… I had to edit this in some other core folder but I don’t remember which one.

The good news is that you will be able to override all of these in BP 1.1/trunk easily if you are using a child theme, without changing the default files!
