Select box value pairs

    How do we format the select box value pairs so that only that value is stored in the DB?

    For example, a dropdown (select box) in the custom profile field. The value we want to store in the DB is only “US; but dropdown label for the user reads: United States.

    What is the format of the text to put in a drop down to do this?
