Should I install 1.7?

    Hi there,

So I’m facing a bit of a dilemma. I run a campus book exchange site, and I’m looking to add a community section to make the site more social.

As of 2 weeks ago, my roadmap was clear… buddypress was way too cluttered, and didn’t have real sitewide forums, so I’d simply install bbPress 2.2. Looks like things have changed though. The setup at testbp.org (and this site) is exactly what I was looking for. It’s clean, and the forums are what I want.

Is it ‘safe’ to start running with 1.7? Also keeping in mind that my site won’t be overly active for about another month, buying me some time for bug fixes. What are the major disadvantages of installing 1.7 now?

    Thanks!

Do not use 1.7 on a live site until a stable release.

    Ok, thanks for your reply.

Is there a way to import bbPress forums into BuddyPress? I was thinking I’d just use bbPress for the time being, and then make the switch over once there’s a stable version.

the 2 things should work fine together as is. i don’t think you need to do any importing.
