Should I use BuddyPress?

I am a new blogger, technology savvy, but not a programmer. I’m using WordPress to develop a new site and want to include a Forum. I dont have a server or any of the programs that are listed in requirements. Is BuddyPress the right direction for me, or is there another avenue I should explore.

    Thank you!

    Hi Jersey,

if you want to use Forums associated to different Groups, then yes BuddyPress is what you are looking for.
Get yourself a shared-hosting-account (for the beginning) and find somebody on this website who will setup BuddyPress on your WP 3.0 install.

do you know the test-website already ?

If you’re just looking for an easy-to-integrate forum for WordPress, try Simple:Press.
If you want to integrate a standalone forum into WordPress, try out bbPress.

To find out if BuddyPress is for you, try out BuddyPress over on the test installation site – http://testbp.org.
Although BuddyPress does have some forum functionality, it is not a dedicated forum script!

    Hope that helps somewhat.
