Sidebar only on certain pages

    I’ve read through all the sidebar posts and still can’t get this to work. I’ve read about the theme hierarchy, but my problem is simply not knowing how to modify the template pages properly.

    I’m using BP 1.8 and don’t see any calls to the sidebar in any of the BP templates. I know that 1.8 now looks to page.php of my wp theme (which has the sidebar) as the basis. What do I need to do to an index.php page to have it not call to page.php?

    I only want my sidebar on the activity page and groups pages. The rest I want full width.

    Sorry, I’m a bit confused about the templates.

    My main WP theme is deTube.

    hi @o0s0o,

    deTube is a premium theme, so do’t expect help about here here. You have to ask on the ThemeForest forum.

    BP 1.8+ fits to any WP theme, so what you want to do depends of your theme, not of BP.

    That said, all BP templates have calls to the sidebar.
    If you open index.php for exemple, in the bp-default theme, you will see at the end of the file
    get_sidebar();
    The sidebar code is in sidebar.php

    To apply a condition for a sidebar to be shown you can use

    if is_page():
    get_sidebar;
    endif;

    WP Codex:
    is_page
    get_sidebar

    deTube has many option and also a sidebar.

    deTube is working with BP

    Thanks. But I followed these instructions for copying the legacy buddypress templates to the deTube theme folder: https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/theme-compatibility-1-7/a-quick-look-at-1-7-theme-compatibility/#how-is-this-useful

    The legacy templates don’t have the sidebar code in the index.php pages.
    members/index.php
    groups/index.php
    activity/index.php

    I know deTube is a premium theme, but with the link I posted, you’re supposed to be able to modify BP template files instead of WP page.php. I just can’t find the sidebar code.
