Sidebar Widgets
-
I’ve just installed Buddypress on WP, with the Buddypress Default 1.2.3 theme.
But I don’t have a the sidebar widgets:
-1- with a ‘Sign-in/Logged in as’ (there is only a text without titlebar in the sidebar now)
-2- with an InboxAs far as I can see there are no such working ‘plugins’ and I also can’t find useful topics or reply on this issue.
The questions made by other members are not answered in the past months from now…
Can anybody please help on this?

I asked a very similar question related to putting widgets in the sidebar with the Activity stream as the home page, rather than the blog as the home page. I got a very helpful answer from @pcwriter. You can read my question and the answer at this post: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/can-you-customize-the-activity-stream-page/
Not sure if that answers your question specfically, but maybe it will help.
@mcclevmr Thx, I do not understand the concept of a child theme, I’m not a programmer due. I’ve seen your website on the link on the topic you mentioned, looks great!
But what is that child theme. I have the Buddypress Default Theme, and am almost ready. By activating another theme al that is gone. Or is that some kind of plugin to generate more widgets and columns? Please inform me on this, still feeling like a Dummy…
@quirhijn – Read this guide on how to create a child theme:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/Using a child theme allows you to make changes to the default theme without fear of losing them when you upgrade BuddyPress.
You don’t need programming knowledge in order to set one up either!
