Site Tracking by Category

    @majecdad

    I am testing the use of Site Tracking on a single site install. While the automated flow of posts to the Activity Stream is good, there are many cases where we would prefer to limit which posts auto flow to the BP Stream.

    How can we limit the WP posts that automatically flow to the BP activity stream by a category or user or some combination thereof?

    Obviously, it would be easy enough to deactivate Site Tracking and manually add posts we published to the Stream. But the main use here is for Posts that are submitted via a Front End Publisher form, where the Submitting party has specified capabilities to access the form, select from a preset category, and publish, and where we want that post to *automatically* hit the Stream (where the Submitter does not need to do anything in BP).

    (We would like the User’s post to be on posted the main site and flow to BP, which is why we don’t just have them post a snippet in the BP What’s Happening box).

    Aside from individual or manual sharing of selected posts to the stream, is there a better way to do this that I may have simply not considered?

    Thanks.

    Multiple hours later, thanks to some code I found kindly shared by @shanebp, I figured out how to do a CPT to the activity stream with Site Tracking off. Cool.

    I would still like to be able to *automatically* post *selected* posts to the BP SWA, maybe turn Site Tracking back on, filter the posts that are submitted based on something like a category, if that’s possible.

    So any ideas are still appreciated.

    Thanks.
