Hi all,

I would like to create a sitemap.xml file to help search engine with buddypress sites. My first idea is to test “Google XML Sitemap” wordpress plugin and see what happens. The plugins work find but only parse the main blog posts. it is logical.

So, I would like to extend the plugins by adding Buddypress support.

For me, the only think very revelant to include in the sitemap is the group’s pages (url like http://www.mysite.com/groups/GroupName) and forums of the group.I don’t believe members page will be a good help for search engine.

It will be also possible to include page for buddypress plugins with a lot of content.

What do you think about that ?

Well, member’s blogs would be a big thing to include if users select the “please publish my blog to search engines” function.

It would be nice to give users a choice if they want their own public profiles open to search engines. But your thoughts seem pretty solid.

Hi PerS! I already downloaded this plugin of this site and isn’t work for the buddypress!

The profile pages and other pages aren’t indexed.

Use a external sitemap generator like this http://www.auditmypc.com/xml-sitemap.asp (need java running – you can get in http://www.java.com/) to get all pages is an alternate

There’s a few around but you could purchase, and use, the paid for version of http://www.xml-sitemaps.com

The app allows you to include/ exclude folders/ directories etc

https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-sitemap-generator/ (ignore some of the warnings in the dashboard – i haven’t updated it awhile but still works and waiting on bp 1.2.6 to do so.)
