Sitewide Activity Stream only showing user’s own activities

    @nicecap

    Hi.
I am on WP 4.9 using Buddypress 2.9.2

Every logged in user is only seeing the own status update under Activity -> Personal.

We don’t have many members so we like to see every user seeing status updates from any user.

I tried a plugin named “Community Activity On Profile” which added a button “All Activity” in front of “Personal” and this showing all updates of all users but this does not have a “What’s new user” entry field.

Is it possible to just have the “What’s new user” and then just a list of all updates. This would be what I understnad as a Sitewide Activity Stream but my Buddy Press just would not show this functionality.

    Please help
    Christoph

That is the default behavior. Under “lets say” http://yoursite.com/members/amember, this is the members personal area. If you are on the activity page there, you will only see your activity. To see all users activity, go to this link, http://yoursite.com/activity. This is where you see the activity for all members.

    Thanks leo for your replay.

I think I still do not get it.

In my menu “Community” which is limited to logged in users I have a menu item Activity. When I click on this “Activity” I get my user photo and cover photo – then there is a menu for all the options and one of them is the default: Activity -> Personal. Directly below there is the text area I can enter my input.
Then a list of activities but obviously only the ones I am involved in.

We have a very small community – maybe 30 members – and most of them do not even like Facebook – that’s why we didn’t use facebook groups. So I want to have a default page where each member has a text area to post in and a list of ALL activities by all members.

Do you have a hint how to achieve this?

The closest thing to happiness by now is using plugin “Community Activity On Profile” – but this “All Activity” does not have the status update entry field. Or maybe using shortcodes?

can you provide me with a link to your site please? If possible I will join your site temporarily and take a look at what is going on. Just allow me to sign up as a basic user.

    Hi leo.

Regularily this member page will be used for a closed group so no registration is possible.

But I just activated registration for anyone. So you can go to http://www.cb-riding.com/register and create your account.

Thank you very much for this effort – appreciated!

Ok, So hello again NiceCap. So what I see is that your activity link in the “Community” drop down menu link in the header there is actually being sent to the current /logged-inMmembers (Current User’s)/profile /activity page. Not the “Community Sites” activity page.

    What your getting is this

    https://www.cb-riding.com/members/leog371/

    what you want is this

    https://www.cb-riding.com/activity

This is probably due to either having your menu setup wrong or your pages in settings/buddypress set up with the wrong pages. I would start by going into your menus. Its under appearance in your wp dashboard and make sure that link gores to https://www.cb-riding.com/activity.

Then go to Settings/buddypress and make sure that the pages are set up correctly. Meaning “Activity Page” should be set to “Activity Page”.

It appears that the activity stream is not taking on your header and your theme stuff. Not sure whats going on there, you should check that out. Anyways, your activities page is here

Wow – thank you leo – you came up with the right track. When I add Activity from the BuddyPress items to my menu it will be the “…/members/username/activity” version and when I add Activity from the pages items it will be “…/activity”, so I changed that.

But it’s true then the header is missing. I will fix this.

Thank you very much for your effort helping me!
