Sitewide/Network wide plugins question

Hi guys.
I’m actually adapting my plugins to WP3.
Got a little question here because I don’t understand this very well.
Are “sitewide” plugins (<WP3) and network-wide plugins (WP3) the same thing ?

Then; I don’t understand this very well :

“Network/Sitewide Activate” is just to enable plugins over the whole network (but with separate datas/plugin options) or is it to have one plugin install running and with its data shared on the network ?
I’m creating a classified ads plugin and I don’t understand very well how I should handle this.

thanks to have contacted me. Are you going to work on the BP-real names plugin to? Do you want to take a look at the work I have done so far to make it working again?
