Slack Chat?

Hi,
I’ve been looking for free chat plugin that works – so far without luck. I just ran across Slack. It is a private chat service. There is a WP plugin but it seems that it is quite limited.
I wonder if I could set up a private group in Slack and create a Group page in BuddyPress. Then put a tab in the BuddyPress page that links to the group page in Slack. Then group members could chat, although they would be leaving BuddyPress when they did. The Slack link would probably open in a new browser page. So return to the BuddyPress page would be easy. Does this idea sound feasible and practical? Thanks.
