So close to getting our website up and running, but need extra help!

We’re using Elegant Themes (Chameleon) to run our membership website. The following are questions we have. I’m not sure if all of these are buddy press related, or if we should contact elegant themes for some of them.

    Thanks for your help!

    • Can we assign specific widgets to specific pages?
    • How do we create the Lost Password URI for the BBpress login widget in the footer?
    • How do we list all forums on the forums page? [We’ve created a forum, but nothing is showing up on the forums page in the navigation.] How do we make sure only members see the forums?
    • How do we enable the registration on the register page? [The register page is blank right now.] (Can we limit who can register with a code?)

@awclubbock Yes. You can use the widget logic plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widget-logic/ where you use WP’s or BP’s conditional tags to control where that widget shows up.

    >> How do we create the Lost Password URI for the BBpress login widget in the footer?

    https://bbpress.org/forums/

    >> How do we list all forums on the forums page?

Go edit the Forums page in dashboard and add the bbp-forum-index shortcode https://codex.bbpress.org/shortcodes/

    – Make sure you’re logged out before trying to register
    – Did you activate BP template pack and go through Appearance > BP Compatibility process? Or go to Settings > BuddyPress > Pages panel and check if a page has been assigned to Registration

    @mercime,

Thank you so much for the help! I did activiate the BP template pack and a page has been assigned to the registration. We have our site hidden behind a maintenance mode plugin, so only registered users can see the site. I think since we’re registered, when we click on the /register page it takes us to the home page. We will have to test this by taking the maintenance mode plugin down.

Can we limit who can register for the site with a code?

    Thanks!

@awclubbock when you’re logged in, clicking on the register link will bring you to home page by default

As for invitation with code, the ones I’ve seen before haven’t been updated for current BP/WP lately. Check out other possible plugins for controlled registrations:
    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/add-multiple-users/
    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/multisite-user-registration-manager/
    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-members/
