Solution for NextGen and BuddyPress Compatibility Issue

    @rekwan

    I’ve seen a lot of forum posts on here regarding NextGen Gallery’s compatibility issue with BuddyPress where you’re unable to edit the User Profile with the NextGen plugin activated. Everyone’s solution seems to be “disable NextGen”, well here’s a solution that allows you to keep both and use both. =)

    Open these two files:
    /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/wordpress_routing/module.wordpress_routing.php

    /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/third_party_compat/module.third_party_compat.php

    Comment out any line containing this: _use_canonical_redirect

    Save and both should be working. =)

    Hi @rekwan,

    Thank you for sharing !
    But to be sure with that hack, i would recommend you do the same on NextGen support, and eventually ask the authors to take in account a better option, in case of BuddyPress.

    They’re also much cleaner and safe solutions, as explained here.
